Arizona Spends Too Much On University Education

(Phoenix, AZ) -- State Representative John Kavanagh says a university education used to be reserved for the best students, but government funds now make it possible for "almost anybody" to go to college.

He says the fact that a good portion of college graduates wind up in "retail and food service jobs" is good reason to examine the philosophy behind the current college funding system.

Kavanagh's comments come after Governor Jan Brewer released a budget plan that ignored a request by the University of Arizona Board of Regents for 100-million dollars in new state funding.
