Phoenix Approves Affordable Housing Project

Phoenix Approves Affordable Housing Project

(Melody Birkett) -- The Phoenix City Council approves what Councilman Sal DiCiccio calls "outrageous funding" for single family apartments at a cost of $281,000 per unit with a total cost of over $5 million.

DiCiccio says the project is an affordable housing project that is not affordable for anybody, including the taxpayers.  He says building a brand new home would cost around $160,000.

DiCiccio calls it government waste and abuse during a budget crisis.

The Congressman recalls another example of what he calls government waste when Ajo, a community near Tucson, was building $600,000 homes for Customs and Border Patrol.
