Chris Cagle was arrested Sunday in Texas after he was allegedly caught drinking and driving. Police say 45 year old Cagle ran a red light around 2 a.m. near Greenville, which is about 50 miles northeast of Dallas.
Randy Meeks, Hunt County Sheriff, said on Tuesday that singer Chris Cagle was under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test. Meeks confirmed that Cagle was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
The sheriff said Cagle was released late Sunday on a $3,000 bond. The penalty for Class B misdemeanor DWI can include a fine of up to $2,000 and up to six months in jail.
Cagle has had problems with the law before, as in May 2008 he and his girlfriend were arrested on domestic assault charges after a verbal argument turned physical, and a few months before that he was arrested and charged with assault after a fight with the boyfriend of a fan.
No official statement has been released from Chris Cagle’s representative.
