Loretta Lynn is getting recognition for her creativity. The country legend has been tapped to receive the Americana Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting.
In announcing her award, organization reps praise Loretta as "one of the most pivotal and admired women in the history of American music." They add that her songwriting was "unprecedented for its candor among women in country music," and Loretta "sang her mind and achieved stunning success doing so."
Lynn is one of four artists receiving special Lifetime awards at the event. Other honorees include singer-songwriter Jackson Browne, blues great Taj Mahal, and Tejano star Flaco Jiménez. They'll all be honored at the Americana Music Association's 13th Annual Honors and Awards ceremony, which will take place in Nashville on September 17th. The event will be taped to air on PBS later this year.
Congratulations to Loretta!
