Sugarland's Kristian Bush is following in partner Jennifer Nettles' footsteps, and branching out on his own.
The country star has announced on his website that he's "officially putting the finishing touches" on his first solo album. He explains that over the past two years he's "written close to 300 songs," which he's whittled down to 15 possible tracks for the disc. But Bush says he still has some studio work to do, as well as settle on a final track list. He adds that he also has to do "everything that goes along with an album release," like selecting singles, creating album art, promotions, and more. But Kristian says he's hoping that "someday, in the not-so-distant future," his album will be in the hands of his fans.
The Sugarland stars began pursuing independent projects after the birth of Nettles' baby in December 2012. Kristian released his first solo single, "Love or Money," in Europe in March 2013 as a "thank you" to fans supporting the inaugural "C2C: Country to Country" music festival in London. The track became available in the U.S. seven months later.
Nettles released her debut solo album, "That Girl," back in January. But both Bush and Nettles say Sugarland has not split up.
